Pasture raised, all natural chicken. Our Chickens are grown outside on pasture and fed local, soy-free, non-gmo, grain. NO hormones, antibiotics, or animal by products; just wholesome food, green grass and sunshine. We use movable chicken arcs for our meat chickens. They spend their first few weeks inside in a brooder, then 6 weeks out on pasture moving to new grass twice a day. Once they are big enough to not get lost in the grass we let them out to free range forage during the day. We raise Cornish cross and heritage chickens for meat. The Cornish cross is the same breed that is used in commercial production that you would find at the grocery store. The breed is the only thing that is the same. Cornish cross can grow to 8 pounds in just 6 weeks. This extreme growth leads to all kinds of health problems for the birds and bland meat for the consumer. We allow our birds to forage in the grass and hunt bugs. We offer local NON GMO SOY FREE feed free choice for half of the day. We do not let them eat 24 hours a day and because they are outside the natural sunlight hours ensures that they rest at night instead of eat. By limiting their access to grain and encouraging them to forage, they grow slower, have no health problems and develop a distinct chicken flavor.
Our chickens are processed by hand using humane methods. That means no electrocution, chemical baths, or radiation. They are not pumped up with fluid to appear juicy and plump. Chickens are only raised during the growing season April through November.
